This is how it all started…
The Oakland Roots: In its earlier days in Oakland Chinatown, New Sang Chong functioned as a classic, tightly packed neighborhood mini-market. It was highly regarded for its fresh vegetables, live seafood, and poultry.
The San Leandro Expansion: The business moved to the Marina Faire Shopping Center in San Leandro to secure a much larger footprint. It eventually expanded even further by absorbing an adjacent storefront, doubling its interior size.
What It Offers Today: Local shoppers often describe it as a more crowded, budget-friendly market, featuring a massive inventory of Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean staples.
